A MAN has appeared in court after children reported a man offering them a lift in Williton.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "At a hearing yesterday (Wednesday, February 14), the man denied two charges of attempted child abduction and was remanded into custody by magistrates pending a Crown Court hearing in March.
"The two girls aged between 10 and 12 ran away and told their parents after a man in a car spoke to them on Monday afternoon, February 12.
"A man was arrested the same evening.
“Residents may see an increased police presence in the area as officers continue their enquiries, as well as uniformed reassurance patrols.
“If you have any concerns, please do speak with officers or contact your neighbourhood team by calling 101.
“Officers would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or other footage which could help the investigation. Please call 101 and give the reference 5224037925.”
